hello everyone! Well what can I say about the Yellow Wallpaper??
This is a very interesting short story that shows the way depression triggers the emotional state into making you do or imagine things you wouldnt normally do. For example she hates the Yellow wallpaper. She imagine things in it like a woman trapped in it and trying to get out. she also imagines two eyes in the pattern going up and down. The way that they (Doctors/physician) treated depression was weird. It catches my attention by the way they deal with it. They locked the woman in a room by herself with nothing that could entertain her. Well I really like this story because I am learning the way that the emotional status of people with depression changes as time passes. Well hope you guys enjoy the story and learn how to become an active reader as well!! Good Luck :)

"The Yellow Wallpaper" is a very interesting short story. It shows how doctors used to treat women who suffered from depression.
I agree with Elayne that the way the Doctor treats depression is weird. He places our narrator in a room with this yellow wallpaper that begins to symbolize something as the story progresses.
After being in this room with no entertainment for a couple of weeks, the narrator begins to go crazy and begins to show signs of paranoia. As an active reader it is important to read the margins because they supply us with information. It is also important to make inferences and try to figure out what this yellow wallpaper really represents. I think this wallpaper represents an "alter ego" of our narrator.
I think that this wallpaper is slowly beginning to show how the narrator is becoming even more paranoid. What does everyone else think?

hey everybody, well as most of you already know in Ms Levine's honors english class we are reading "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. So far I am really enjoying this short story, I love how vivd the narrator is about how the wallpaper makes her feel and what she see's in the wallpaper. I really dislike how her husband John treats her like if she is a child, and makes her feel as if she's a burden to have around. Other than that this is a very intresting story and I hope who ever reads this enjoys it as much as I am right now.

While reading the Yellow Wallpaper, I noticed something interesting; The narrator starts imagining or hallucinating that the woman behind the wallpaper is trapped behind it and creeps out in the daylight. She claims to see her creep out of the windows and whenever something like a carriage comes up, she hides. She may find herself relating to this "trapped" woman because the narrator herself creeps out by daylight.
Her hallucinations may become stronger because she may feel conncected to the woman.

Hello everyone. So let's start this discussion about the "Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. On page 265 I can definietly see a change in the author's actions & state of mind. She's starting to think the pattern hides many women behind the yello wall. She believes that she's seen the woman. I find that particularly odd because people can't come out of walls. I believe her state of mind began to leave when she started seeing the [woman] behind the wallpaper. I really am worried that she is out of a good mental state because Jennie[her sister in law/housekeeper] found smugdes in the wall meaning the narrator was rubbing against the wall. However Jennie does not know of this woman that the narrator sees behind the wall. I think the narrator is not looking between the lines because in the beginning of the story she believes she is in an old nursery room. The description clearly tells us using a few context clues that where the narrator is staying is an old mental institution because of the barred windows, raggedy bed & the ripping of the wall paper near the bed of one's reach. Clearly the narrator is in a horrible state of mind & she is losing it.

What's up everyone? I have just finished reading "The Yellow Wallpaper" and I must say that towards the end it becomes confusing if you don't get what's going on. We get to see how far from sanity this narrator has gone. The woman hallusinates seeing a woman creeping in her room when in reality its her self. Also the narrator is suspicous of these smooches, those were also her too. I like this story and it really shows how these people who suffered froem depression really feel.

Sup guys!! Well, we are currently reading a short story called the Yellow Wallpaper. In my opinion the story is a little bit creepy. It seems that there's a woman that keeps creeping out of the wallpaper; meaning that the narrator is getting worst as time progresses. I think that the whole point of the story is to let people know that the Rest Cure wasn't helpful, but it made you go nuts!!! In my opinion, the best way to treat depression is by being supportive & friendly to the person that's going through depression. This short story also shows how sexist doctors were (Rest Cure was typically prescribed to women). Well, overall, I think that this short story is very interesting, but is kind of creepy too...

While reading "The Yellow wallpaper" many thoughts came to mind. I soon thought to believe the narrator wasn't losing her mind. Due to the fact how she expalined the house, being so big and cheap but no one has live in it for years.I thought some thing was strange about that. I soon beging to realize that the wall paper in the room is what keeps the narrotor going, if it wasn't for her hiding journal and the wall paper the narrotor would have completed lose her mind.

Honestly, when I first heard the title of this book I said that this is just another one of Ms.Levine's way of torturing us.BUT.......I was wrong. As an English honors teacher she has high expectation. This book explains more than just a woman's feelings towards yellow wall paper but how the mind can create these inanimate and perplex scenarios. This woman, our narrator is literally being changed mentally and emotionally by her mind. She tends to see this woman creeping trying to escape from the wall but, ask yourself is she really seeing a woman or is her mind showing her, herself. To be an active reader you must ask yourself these questions. All who wish to become an active reader I leave you with these few words...''To free yourself you must first free your mind, but to do so you must let it unravel itself without losing yourself in the progress. (p.s. ha.. beat that Elayne.... just joking)

“The Yellow Wallpaper” was a very interesting short story that tells us, the active readers, just how much depression can affect a person both mentally and emotionally and may cause them to see thing that aren’t really there. It can affect a person’s sense of reason. I was personally astonished about the way doctors used to treat this kind of sickness and releived that with today’s technology and medical advancement, those people that undergo this kind of problems are in better hands and don’t have to endure the old inhumane treatments previously used. Thank you Ms. Levine for sharing this story with us, I really enjoyed it!!

HMMMMM, THE YELLOW WALLPAPER. WELL,IT WAS VERY INTERESTING.THE LADY IN THE STORY WAS VERY CONFUSING AND WEIRD.SHE DID A LOT OF HALLUCINATING. EVERYDAY WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I THINK HER HUSBAN SHOULD HAVE SUPPORTED HER MORE, INSTEAD OF THINKING SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH HER. I DONT LIKE WHERE HE MADE HER SLEEP EITHER. THE YELLOW WALLPAPER WAS A VERY BAD IDEA. IT MADE HER MORE DEPRESSED AND CRAZY. THE DETAILS THAT SHE USED TO DESCRIBE THE WALLPAPER MADE IT SOUND HORRIFIC AND DISGUSTING. IF I WAS STUCK IN A ROOM WITH THAT KIND OF WALLPAPER, I WOULD DIE. THE YELLOW WALLPAPER DESCRIBES HOW SHE IS FEELING INSIDE. THE WALLPAPER REPRESENTS DEPRESSION AND MISERY. IT REFLECTS THE LADY PERFECTLY.:)
