I love The Color Purple by Alice Walker! I am only on page 58, but I already am in love with the book. I can already see the difference between the book and the movie. The movie left out details that the book explains. For example in the book Nettie left Celie with satisfaction. She was not thrown out and she was not upset. On the other hand, in the movie Nettie was physically forced out of the house because she would not let Mr.____ have woo her. As I continue to read the book and I get more and more into it, where I just can't wait to see how many more differences there are between and novel and the movie.
Hey everyone! It's me Elayne. Well I'm here blogging on the book named The Color Purple. I love this book for many reasons. I like the way that Celie is so innocent and doesnt know anything about the world outside of her house.I get into her character and I imagine how it feels like to be so lonely and empty like her. Well I am on page 99 so far and I am into the book. Its just so different than other books that you get INTO the book and understand it. I also like the way that things you dont expect happens. Well hope everybody is enjoying the book. Bye!!
Ah, I'm keep reading ahead. I've already found out what the description on the back of the book said. I'm not really reading much though, just kind of skimming (I read this in the 7th grade). I hope we get to read more of this in class though... I like our reading sessions.
Hey everyone!! I think that The Color Purple is the best/most interesting novel we've read so far. I'm on page 156 and all I can say is the Celie & Shug's realtionship is ummmmmm......, I dont have the words to describe it. I think that Shug doesnt love Celie. Shug is kind of a whore, so I think that her feelings for Celie are fake. I might be wrong but thats what I think. On the other hand, I'm 100% sure that Celie is in love with Shug. She probably doensnt like men is because of her father and Mr.____, they both treat her like crap and technically rape her all the time, so myabe this is why she is a lesbian.
The Color Purple by Alice Walker is a great book although I get confused at times I go back and try to figure it out.At first I wanted to give up on reading it but there's somethings in this text I can relate to in my life.Mr._____ loves to be in control of Celie thats because Celie isn't as smart. Her sister Nettie tries to help but Celie was scared that Pa would've hurt her. Like me I worry about my little sisters every mintue of the day because i would hate if anyone try to hurt them.Celie wasn't bright but she sure was protective over the young ones. She's a brave young lady any way you put it.As times go by she starts to open up and see what the real world is about kind of like us teenagers now a days. The novel is better than the movie you can actually picture what is going on and also it gives you more details.
I teach 10th and 11th grade English Literature. Before I came to HSFI, I received my BA from Hobart and William Smith College and participated in their Teacher Certification Program. I continued my studies at Columbia University's Teachers College where I earned my Masters Degree in Secondary English Education. I have been teaching with the DOE since 2002 and blogging since 2008. Students, thank you for your endless inspiration and for sharing your thoughts.
