Appearance vs. Reality in Frida Kahlo's Self-Portrait

For Homework, Blog about today's lesson with Jackie from MoMA. How does this theme of appearance vs. reality work in Macbeth? How does it relate to Kahlo's paintings?

Today somebody from the MOMA came into our class and started talking about Frida Kahlo and she showed us self portraits of her paintings too!
I found today very interesting because we touched upon the theme of "appearance vs reality"
I didn't quite understand what this really meant until today
Apeearance vs Reality is when things may seem one way but turn out to be another
pretty cool huh?
We were assigned to think of objects that represent us in a way we think they do and others in ways they actually do, bringing forth the theme of appearance vs reality.
The trip to the MOMA seens like its gonna be cool

cant wait

In english today, a representative from the MOMA come on and talk to us about the muesuem and some of the artist featured in it. Frida Kahlo's was one of the artist and her painting really added to the theme of apearence vs. reality. This theme is closly related to the play Macbeth "lool like the innocent flower, but be the seroent under't"

Today in English class,a lady from MOMA came and talked about "Apperance vs. reality"."What we see can be deceptive",just like Lady Macbeth. She pretend to be good to Ducan but in the inside she has a blind ambition to kill him.

So Yea As Others Have been Saying A Lady I Think Named Jackie Came From The MOMA (Museum Of Natural Art) And Showed Us Some Art Work Of A Painter Named Frida Kahlo. she painted many self portraits of herself. In class we saw three of them! (what a shoker)
what really really shock me though , was one of her portraits, where she dresses her self with her husband(diego rivera)suit who at that point just gotten a divorce with him because he cheated on her with her sister!!
with the paintings we saw in class we really touched upon the theme "Appearance vs. Reality"
-your apperance shows others how they think you are.
-Reality is the person you KNOW you are
compared to appereance you might be totally different
macbeth has similar deatails like this
ex:
macbeth seemed like the person who really wouldnt do a BAD thing.
but it reality macbeth was all for killing king Duncan but then again he didnt want to.

» Upon receiving the self-portrait of Frida Khalo (Appearance vs. Reality), the meaning of the painting seemed rather elusive (there was a strong sense of androgyny). I thought Khalo was trying to portray another side of her – one that many had not seen; but instead, it was the resort from the pain and confusion she felt when her husband cheated on her (with her own sister).
» This relates to the play, Macbeth, because Macbeth was depicted as an honorary and righteous man. But like Khalo, the reality was not what it had appeared to be on first glance. Macbeth had a villainous mind; ready to kill the king once he thought power was attainable… that’s not something I thought a noble thane of Cawdor would do. It just goes to show that things are not always, as they seem.

iN FRiDA KAHLO'S self portrait appearance vs reality are two totally different things but are alike at the same time. I really think she expressed the "living two lives" flaw.... But somehow she makes it magnificent

It was great working with you all! Your comments were really thoughtful about Frida Kahlo and the way she played with her appearance in her self portraits. I think Frida was always trying to figure herself out and her way of doing that was to paint herself in different environments, clothes, situations, etc.

When you come to the Museum we'll look at other artworks in which artists try to represent people and often show that there is a difference between appearance and reality and that appearances can be misleading...

Today we went to the MOMA and it was really fun. WE saw a variety of things and it was really interesting. We got to talk about what we saw and how we felt, and it was just a great experience. And it didn't even end after the MOMA. No one really knew how to get home from there, so the whole group fallowed Tiffany Scott who kindly showed us the way to McDonald. Almost everybody ate in McDonald and it was pretty cool because it was the first time we were eating in McDonald's with our friends, well I was. We all went to the train station with somebody, as far as I know. It was a really good day and I'm very grateful that I had this experience.

the whole appearence vs. reality is real interesting. it applys to everyone how, things can seem one way to the world but inside its a its the opposite. inside is where the "truth" lies.
so yeah, the MoMa showed that in picture.
