To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, E5H

Let's share our thoughts about this timeless classic. Why is To Kill A Mockingbird such a celebrated work of fiction? Which passages from the novel are your favorites and why? Atticus Finch is famous for his integrity; when I am faced with difficult decisions in life, I like to ask myself, "How would Atticus handle this situation?"

Hey guys, is me again. In our class we are reading a book called "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee & I have to admit that this is one of the best books that I've ever read. My favorite character is Atticus because he's like so wise, and has a solution to every problem & because he treats his kids as if they were adults. If all parents were like Atticus, this would be a better world!

"I'm little, but I'm old." I don't remember who he was- a neighbor, a cousin or a nephew, but I like the quote and what it stands for. I think many of us can relate to that statement, at least once in our lives.

Well I agree with Luis, maybe the world will be better or maybe not... Who knows?? Maybe it ill be the same as it is now... UmMmmM...

The book we are reading in class is called To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This is a really great novel. My favorite part of this novel so far is at the middle of chapter nine. During this part of the novel Scout is insulted by how Fancis feels about Atticus. She becomes irked by how Francis was condescending Atticus' character. They get into an arguement/fight because Scout defends her father. This shows that Scout has courage and alot of faith to her father (Atticus). I think that so far my favorite protagonist is Scout. She breaks the stereotypes of how girls are weak and have to always look "pretty". I can't wait to read the rest of the remaining chapters!

To Kill A Mockingbird is a good coming of age story. Harper Lee was a genious for writing this artful work of literature. The part in the story that upset me the most was when Radley cemented the hole in the tree that Scout and Jem had found the treats in.

Through high school i always wanted to read a book that not only deals with growing up but with the characters doing the unthinkable.Such as Atticus represnting a blcak man.

Hey! Last night I read chapter 8 & 9 and I just realized how racist people where back then! Some kid named Cecil Jacobs calls Atticus a nigger-lover & makes fun of Scout. Fracis Hancok, also calls Atticus a nigger-lover, and says that he's a shame for the family and says that they're so embarrased of what he is doing that they wont be able to come outside. I cant belieave that everyone's making such a big deal only because Atticus is defending a colored man!

Opps! I made a mistake, chapter 8 is about the fire at Ms. Maudie's place. The fire was getting close to the Ficnhes house, so Scout & Jem had to leave the house. This chapter is kind of creepy because when Jem & Scout get back after the fire, they both have blankets but neither of the know how they got it. I'm not sure but I think that Atticus tells them that Boo Radley was the one who gave them the blankets, but they were so distracted that they didnt even notice that Boo was there. Wow, this was their chance to finally get to meet Boo, but they were so distracted that they didnt even saw him!!!

Well I agree with Luis, because this is one of the best books that I've read so far.So far my favorite character is Scout because she is smart and she does not want to let Atticus.

I also agree with Luis. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a really great book. It shows perfect examples of naivete and innocence in the beggining and more maturity towards the middle. I wonder how the story will be towards the end.

"To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee is a very good book, out of all books I've ever read this year. Well in chapter 13 why does the aunt have to stay with them for a while and they have Calpurnia? Is she not a good role model to Jem and Scout? If she is then their aunt shouldn't have to come over and watch over them as they grow, because Cal has been doing for a while and look how they turned out.

Jem ask Scout to just cool off for a while because he thinks his father is worried about the Tom Robinson case(ch.14). Scout doesn't want to listen to her aunty because there's certain things Atticus teaches them but Aunt Alexandra doesn't support it at all. Dill comes to Maycomb Jem asks him how did he get there and he says he stole money from his mom. Dill mom doesn't know where he's at. Jem irks him to call her because thats the right thing to do.

When I first started reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee I didn't like it. Now that I read some more by myself and with my class I'm starting to realize that people back then isn't that different to people now. When Cal bought Scout and Jem to her church people started saying that they are not welcome in that church. Also the Tom Robinson case because Atticus is a white man defending a blackmans rights.People weren't treated equal back then and still isnt today.

If I was a famous theater director, I would leave the scene by the jail house the same. I would not let it's lose it true meaning. For example,When Scout ask Mr.Walter Cunningham how his son is doing. I would want to show his experince and the experince of Atticus,Scout,Jem and Dill. This scene is a great because it as so much meaning to it.WOw this book is getting good.

To Kill a mockingbird is a great book. So far i'm up to chapter 23. I was suppose to stop reading at chapter 19 i think, but i wanted to know if Atticus was going to win the trial and it made me anxious and nervous at the same time, like when i was reading the chapters of the case of Tom Robinson and how the trial went i felt like i was there experiencing it. I think Atticus is so smart, i like the way speaks and everything he says and does. I believe that some elements that make this novel a classic is the different themes like the injustice against race and the life in the south, also what it is to have courage and show compassion for others and how not to kill a mockingbird because it is a sin, how you shouldn't hurt the people that are innocent. Well thats all for now i'm off to bed. Bye. =]

Wow! This is probably the best book I've ever read; I think it's better than Harry Potter!! Anyways, We've been reading a piece of the Tom Robison's trial and I think that Atticus is the coolest guy ever! He's maddddddddd smart, clever, & best of all, treats his kids as if they were adults! Atticus is the coolest father I've ever known.

My favorite scene in the film is during the trial. Specifically it was during the time when Atticus was interrogating Mayella. As he asked her questions about what had happened during her time with Tom Robinson she was frequently contradicting herself. She also felt very antagonized by Atticus and assumed that he was mocking her when he was simply being polite. I thought this scene was funny but intense at the same time.
