Hey Everyone!!!!

Summer's going great so far. I am having so much fun here at my Cornell Program. I am learning so much about biology, science, and medicine.

But anyways, I wanted to tell everyone that I am almost done with the Twilight series. I am currently on Breaking Dawn. I love the books so much, I can't wait until the movies comes out.

I miss Brandeis. When we go back everything is going to be so different. I can't wait to see who is going to be the new A.P. English teacher!

Have fun everyone!!!
See you in September, Ms Levine.

Hey everyone!

I check the blog every couple of days and love seeing the new updates/posts!!

Glad to hear you are all having productive summers and I hope you are enjoying the books.

Besides missing you all, I've been hanging out (and trying to go running) in Central Park, seeing movies, spending time with family in NJ, making my friends jealous that I'm on summer break, and I'm going to take a photography course in a couple of weeks :)

Keep reading and blogging! It's great reading your posts :)

Hello everyone!

I am currently at work, BORED.
I downloaded A Tale of Two Cities on my G1 and its awesome ( the fact that I downloaded it onto my phone), not the book, it bores me, but hey I need to read so I might as well read what was assigned.
I'll try and see if I can download A Catcher in the Rye..

As for my summer its been filled with new experiences I would've never imagined doing.

I look forward to going to Jamaica in August !!

Hard to believe but I miss Brandeis, I want to see how its going to be with the new school and all.

Keep in touch <3.

Towards the end of act 1, it get a little more exciting. Its funny how peer pressure works. Any Whoo, went to tha beach 2day and had a blast. This summer is starting to luk up.

Hey, people!!! Most of my summer was boring. I read the first 13 pages and I think the overture in Act One was too long. I started to lose interest a little bit. I'll blog again soon.

The Crucible is becoming like a bumpy road. One minute good the next minute..boring. i do like the backrounds on the people, it helps a lot. summer is starting to look up for me.

reading the crucible... ugggghhhhhhh... kind of a drag... the first 3 pgs is ridiculous...and their town is way 2 strict... no fun jus praying and working...what kind of life is that.. as they say "all work and no play makes for a very dull day"... until next time

Great to hear from everyone! Stick with the books and keep an open mind :) They are all good and all classics :)

I love that you are sharing your overall reactions (ex. "it's boring" or "it's exciting"), but now, try and discuss:

characterization
narration
themes
symbols
figurative language
motifs
pose questions to each other
react to some of the author's choices (like diction)

And definitely try copying an interesting quote (include the page number!) from the text and explicate it! Remember: "This quote is significant because...."

I miss you guys! Have fun!

Omgee its me! it's 2 oclock in the morning at my cousins house (the only time i get to use a computer). My summer has been soo boring- just work work and home, staten island and repeat...I moved back to brooklyn so its taking time to get everything straight.
The books are boring- could it be the weather??

'Till next time =)

okay soo the crucible is gettin a little better... what a scandle: the pastors niece and the proctor... ummm hmmm hmmm... lo0lz..running aroung naked in the forest... sounds kind of kinky.. funny quote: "i know how you clutched my back behind your house and sweated like a stallion whenever i come near!

Lmao, just kidding.
Hey Ms.Levine i miss you =D
Im glad i finally graduated >_<
But yea, im planning on getting some books i want to read, like Jim Norton's I Hate Your Guts, and other books that i will eventually enjoy. <3

this book is making me read the dictionary... AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!...lo0lz lo0lz... but its alright, i got a new word from it "LASCIVIOUS"...the meaning for the word isn't as wierd as it sounds...g2g...about 2 go get some "COOL WHIP"... lmao.. im outtie

Deja H said...

tha Crucible is done with now...the ending was kinda wack..but slightly enjoyable...Act 2 scene 2 was the best scene and they don't include it in the plays. Finished Fred Douglass and the violence/description of slavery was amazing. kinda scared me a little. until nxt tyme :)

Liz D said...

still readin da crucible.... oooo proctor is havin a lil trouble with the mrs. .... all these people involved in the witchcraft... omg... scandal.... lo0lz

The jungle...surprisingly..is starting to get good. too bad it's at chapter 15 which is half way thru the book. it was sad to the main character change from hearty to withered. Society is a cruel world on it's own. and so is this weather, what happened to fun in the sun????

until next time

Liz D said...

ok so here's where i'm at so far: the proctor's wife name was mention in court during the witch trials and his wife knows he likes abagail..... mary warren has taken charge and is no longer controlled by the proctor.... mr. hale is acting very suspicious.... he thinks he proctor may be "siding with the devil"

Hey, I'm back from D.R. and kind of glad. I read The Crucible and to tell the true its was the haredest read ever. I'm just joking but it was hard to understand at first and a little boring. The characters were a little confusing but at the end their roles became more clear. And that Abigail girl needs help like seriouly.

Sorry for the delay of blogs, but my computer is seriously acting up. Anyway, I finished the crucible last month. To my suprise, it was pretty good. Some of it was alittle hard to understand, but it got easier as I read.

Lily T said...

Don't get me started on The Jungle. First off, it took me hours trying to read the first chapter. It was torture! I eventually finished the book, though. It got better in chapter 15. The book was okay, but you need to have patience to get through it.

Deja H said...

Hey,I also had a blog delay because blogging means I would actually have to move and moving isn't one of my strong points for this summer...everything is done and can wait until school starts. Hope the school didn't change too much. See ya In Class ....(>_0)

Hey everyone, Well i finally got to The Crucible and its as great as i thought
Pages 1-32
-This girl Abigail has alot of control on everyone. (reminds of girls i know lol)The girls and John Proctor and more. She is very munipulative and scarey. I think she has it for anyone who gets in her way. She uses information for blackmail.
-Some people actually believe in witch craft and people who dont. Abigal does not believe but she must just to go with the flow.
-With betty and Ruth sick, makes me think that, what if witch craft is true or is it just a game.
-Some believe in hospitals and doctors and others beleive in god to help them.
This is just the first half of the act one so i hope the rest changes.

Hey, i finally finsh act one. I have learned one thing: Abigal runs stuff! she is blaming all thes ladies for no reason. i dont beleive that those ladies ever had anything to do with the devil. i feel really bad for Tituba. Abigal is blaming her and acting like she forced poor slave woman to do her horrible deeds. Betty, to me is not sick at all. she rose at the perfect time to with Abigal crazy plan. Witchcraft is a serious issue to these people because they will kill for dancing... umm to me that CRAZY!!

*It just hit me that I havent blogged yet. Sorry for my delay in blogging I've been really busy. Summers okay been busy with family and religious matters. I have read Uncle Toms Cabin and The Crucible they were both great books. Uncle Toms Cabin is pretty long book it was sort of diffcult to understand what was going on, I had to read over things to understand what was going on other than that its a really good book on slavery.
*The Crucible was great book to read it was very interesting and dramatic. Anyway can't wait to see everybody on sept. 9th. ^_^

Act 3
This scene takes place in the court and there is this imaginary line through the court.
Witch craft and the truth. The women are on trial and they have a option to confess or be hanged. Their husbands are trying to save them and it does not work. those firls have horrible power over these men. But Proctor really cares fofr his wife because he ends up telling everyone about what he did with Abigail.
It me think what else he might do to save his wife?

Act 4
I feel horrible for John Proctor Dieing for something he did not even do. Abigal running off just shows she was lieing. I wish Elizabeth tried to save her husband from his death. I think the resaonthe killed John Proctor was just to prove that the officals, like Danforth, that they were rigth all along. This was a good play but i wished Abigal had got what was coming to her.
