Rock On! Writing Elective

Music and Writing are closely linked. Does music inspire you to write? Can images and feelings be expressed through music? You have all been enthusiastic about sharing lyrics that speak to you. We have been analyzing these lyrics and focusing on what makes the lyrics effective: figurative language, anaphora, rhythm in the language, universal emotions, imagery, symbolism, etc.  As we begin thinking about the songs we will write, use this post to share your ideas and original lyrics, lyrics you enjoy, or any bit of inspiration...

Writing a song is a lot like writing a poem.
You can sit and think for hours about ways to make it seem deep or emotional, powerful and memorable, or just full of rhymes, but my technique is simply to get put down an idea of what you're aiming to write about. For instance, if your poem is going to be about heartbreak, I would write down a few key things about the emotions or feelings provoked by the heartbreak, and afterwards, just put pen to paper and write away.

Another thing that might be able to help is finding an instrumental song of some sort and add your own lyrics to the melody. It'll help out a lot. Music always inspires me to write as I'm sure it does lots of other people.

The main song that inspires me to write is "Like a Stone" by Audioslave. It always gets to me and makes me question the motive behind the speakers actions.
But whatever, this is way long and I'm afraid people are getting sick of this, so yeah. Okay then. = \

When you write a song it comes the
-experience you overcome in your life
-a moment you will never forget
-comes from your thoughts
-comes from deep emotional, sensations or just randomly

I am a songwriting and this might sound out of lead but, I don't know how to play an instrument but, I do write songs.Sometimes when I feel sad, happy or any other emotion I begin to write lyrics, sometimes it comes out bad but, I try to add another word that fits. When you write a song don't focus on what the song is about just go with the flow and make the song feel special and something meaningfull to you, so you could share to the people.

This is a call to the color-blind
This is an IOU
I'm stranded behind a horizon line
Tied up in something true

Yes, I'm grounded
Got my wings clipped
I'm surrounded (by)
All this pavement
Guess I'll circle
While I'm waiting
For my fuse to dry

Someday I'll fly
Someday I'll soar
Someday I'll be so damn much more
Cause I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for

Why is it not my time?
What is there more to learn?
Shed this skin I've been tripping in
Never to quite return

Yes, I'm grounded
Got my wings clipped
I'm surrounded (by)
All this pavement
Guess I'll circle
While I'm waiting
For my fuse to dry

Someday I'll fly
Someday I'll soar
Someday I'll be so damn much more
Cause I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for
Cause I'm bigger than my body now

Maybe I'll tangle in the power lines
And it might be over in a second's time
But I'll gladly go down in a flame
If the flame's what it takes to remember my name

Yes, I'm grounded
Got my wings clipped
I'm surrounded (by)
All this pavement
Guess I'll circle
While I'm waiting
For my fuse to dry
For my fuse to dry

Someday I'll fly
Someday I'll soar
Someday I'll be so damn much more
Cause I'm bigger than my body
I'm bigger than my body
I'm bigger than my body now

I didn't understand what this song meant but, then I began to listen to it and I start liking it.(one of my favorite songs) A song can make people think,it can mean anything...........

I agree with everything the bloggers are saying.Music is my everything because it has a meaning to it. It also has a story behind every single verse.Just like a poem sometimes it rhymes and sometimes it doesn't but at the end there's always emotions. Some people tend to show the sensitive side of them and some don't so they express it in an awful way. This is just how I see it.And I so love what song writer posted.

MUSIC AND WRITING I VERY CLOSE. ALOT MUSIC ARTIST ARE INSPIERED BY POETS. MUSIC IS FILLED WITH JOY AND ENLIGHTMENT FROM A BEAT BUT WITH LYRICS ADDED TO THE BEAT IT OPENS THE MIND TO OTHER THINGS. IT GIVES YOU A VISUAL IMAGE OF WHAT YOUR LISTENING TO. PUTS A SETTING IN YOUR MIND BASED ON WHAT THE ARTIST IS TALKING ABOUT. MUSIC AND WRITING BELONG WITH EACH OTHER BECAUSE WITH OUT THE OTHER THEIR NO POINT IN ONE ANOTHER.
